The LYSN business is underpinned by a mental telehealth platform (Python; React) that delivers mental health support and psychological services Australia-wide. As the only technology leadership role in the business, the CTO role carries accountability for technology strategy and operations across both Engineering and the wider business, including the leadership of a small team of engineers who build and manage that platform.In conjunction with my team and Product leadership, I developed the technical vision and long-term strategy for the telehealth platform and the needs of the broader business, along with the architectural and team-scaling plans for short, medium, and long-term changes to the platform, based on domain-driven design and with a bias towards separation of concerns, APIs, and independent, abstracted services.

Led the development and delivery of a new product platform focused on an SME customer base, delivering targeted two-way communication for both B2B and B2C recipients. This new platform was a divergence from Whispir’s traditional product offering, on an entirely new stack (Node; React; Typescript), and required a transformation in the team's approach to software development.My group of teams were focused on the development of independent services that supported the end-to-end customer experience across identity and access management, billing and entitlements, contact management, message composition and delivery, customer integrations, in-product workflows, and analytics and reporting.

My group of teams were accountable for the entire end-to-end purchasing process for our customer base – from initial trial through to subscription-based invoices and payments. Putting our customers at the centre of this process, we focused on improving the experience of every step of the customer journey, and we iteratively delivered a significant amount of value.Prior to my time in the back-office area of the business, I led teams within the SME product engineering group. My most notable contribution here was as one of the leaders of the largest software transformation program of work in the history of MYOB. Over a two year program, six teams collaborated on an extensive re-platform of MYOB’s SME product stack. The new product was successfully released to market in early 2020 and is now MYOB’s premier SaaS offering.

I was delighted to join an agile software house in some renown in MYOB. My initial role was as a squad leader in the Banking domain, who – in conjunction with eleven other crews – were focused on delivering new functionality to market for MYOB’s small business accounting SaaS product.Later that same year, I was approached to be part of a group that proposed a revolutionary approach to our go-to-market offering, and with Board approval, we commenced the aforementioned re-platforming program of work. Prior to my promotion to Development Manager, I led a back-end stream of work for the program, focused on exposing existing tightly-coupled object-oriented components as more easily consumable APIs.

I grew the delivery team to 14 consultants in a little under a year, and we successfully delivered a $3m portfolio of work.

Prior to acquisition by the RXP Services group, 10collective was a pioneering digital talent solutions agency that specialised in the sourcing and provision of best of breed creative and software development talent, with a specific focus on web and mobile technologies.Over an 18-month period, I tried my hand at sourcing talent for clients, rather than building teams from the position of a hiring manager. I learnt a great deal more about uncovering exceptionally talented people, and the things that engage and motivate them in their work, during this time. I also had the opportunity to lean on my tenured experience in the technology industry, providing both architectural and organisational development expertise to a number of clients.
