A consummate operational generalist and executive, I have years of experience in primarily early-stage tech- and tech-enabled startups, including running (and successfully exiting) my own. I thrive and add the most value at that sweet spot around 10 employees -- when it’s time to build for scale, a very different proposition than when the entire team can fit around a ping pong table. I’ve repeatedly witnessed this as a painful inflection point, as change is required, brand definition is often weak, staff is frustrated, and you simply can’t continue to do things the way they’ve been done. I can create order out of the natural chaos that often results from growth without supporting infrastructure, or I can build the systems you’ll need from scratch *before* chaos reigns. My marketing background helps me understand that every business process involves a customer group with an acquisition and retention journey all its own. Understanding software development has trained my brain to think in terms of requirements, user stories, if/thens and triggers, boiling everything down into discrete data points and what we need to do with them. I combine experience with intuition, look at every organization as a system, always drive for brand to be defined and imbued in every aspect of a business, and document, document, document. My ultimate goal for every business process is two steps: 1) log in, and 2) follow the prompts. I’ll always try to get as close to that as possible.
