Tutor/Assessor
I assess and support athletes on the Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) programme for Aquatics (Swimming, Diving, Water Polo and Artistic Swimming) which includes the top 180 aquatic athletes in England for the 16-18 year old bracket. I support my learners from day one of their programme, from the initial sign up, through their learner journey to their completion date and beyond. Liaising with athletes, their parents/carers/guardians and coaches is an essential part of my role and I work hard to maintain positive relationships with these key individuals through regular contact such as 12 week reviews, training and competition observations and portfolio development. I deliver workshops with my fellow assessors to the athletes across the country and teach them the knowledge they need to understand their sport in a more theoretical light to support their practical home-based programmes. I also assist in the delivery and support of overseas camps in line with the Swim England performance pathway.I work with individuals with learning and physical disabilities and ESOL learners. Every learner is different and no two journeys are ever the same.
Level Two Aquatics Swimming Teacher
Requiring high attention and the ability to work well under pressure, I teach able-bodied and one-to-one disability classes. My duties include planning and organising lessons, attending regular staff training, carrying out risk assessments, liaising with parents, observing/correcting technique and assessing.Skills include communication, team work, planning and organisation, customer service, time management, leadership, decision-making, working to deadlines, setting objectives, motivating others, presenting a positive personal/company image, and providing/accepting constructive criticism.
Trainer/Assessor (Sport)
I cover a vast majority of England, from Burnley to Poole and everything inbetween. I work with Apprentices across a range of programmes, including Coaching Learn to Swim, Business Admin, Customer Services, Leisure Operations and Activity Leadership. In this role I recruit Apprentices and help guide them through their NVQ courses. I complete the initial sign up and take each learner through their apprenticeship journey. Liaising with employers is an essential part of my role and I work hard to maintain positive relationships with these key individuals. I also conduct the initial assessments for Functional Skills Math and English through BKSB and deliver up to Level 2 using the City and Guilds examinations. Delivering and helping with employability and customer service skills is also part of my role. The second part of my job role is working with the Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) programme for Aquatics (Swimming, Diving, Water Polo and Artistic Swimming) with the top 180 aquatic athletes in England. I liaise with the athletes, their parents/carers/guardians and coaches on a regular basis and complete 8 weekly reviews, training and competition observations and portfolio developing. I deliver workshops with my fellow assessors to the athletes across the country and teach them the knowledge they need to understand their sport in a more theoretical light to support their practical home-based programmes. I also assist in the delivery and support of overseas camps alongside the NGB Swim England.I work with individuals with learning and physical disabilities and ESOL learners. Academic Coach - Math
Working with school staff, I coached pupils in mathematics depending on their individual needs. This involved agreeing individual targets and action plans to improve the success and progress rate of these pupils and assisting to overcome individual barriers to learning. My role also included working with small groups outside of timetabled classes including pre-school, during lunch breaks and after school. All sessions I delivered were carefully recorded and any assessments were tracked to contribute to their reports. I worked closely with the other Coaches and Senior Leadership Team to ensure we shared best practice, monitored progress and evaluated our coaching program.

Careers Fair Associate
Working alongside the Employer Engagement Events and Vacancy Co-ordinator, I engaged with exhibitors to ensure venue arrangements and facilities met their requirements. I worked as employee engagement assistant with the exhibitors themselves and the students, and generally gave assistance in the smooth running of the event. I ran errands from the head office and was hands-on during the events with the careers team, students and employers. In addition, I participated in the clean up of the events and spoke directly to employers to gather their feedback on the day. During the immediate two days following the events I collected and reported all the responses from the employer and student surveys using Excel.I gained vital experience of what running an event is actually like. I also learned how significant the finer details can be and the importance of planning, customer service and time management are to coordinate a successful event. Developing a greater understanding of how to engage with employers as well as thinking on my feet were essential parts of this role.
