Freelance Illustrator

Post university, I have undertaken many freelance illustration projects. These include: The cover for Jasmin Loren's debut poetry anthology 'Sweet Oblivion'. For this project, my brief was to create a cover which accurately represented Jasmin's first collection of poetry. I read through many of her poems whilst thumbnailing designs and ideas. After reviewing the designs with the author, we decided on one of the more abstract designs, which I then turned into a final piece, keeping the author informed throughout the process. This project enabled me to put into practice the skills that I learnt throughout my time at university whilst also allowing me to work with another creative to help them achieve their own goals. Jasmin's book is now available on most online reading platforms with my cover, which was also used as part of the promotional material. My debut original zine, 'Stars and Constellations', released in 2018, is a small 16-page zine written, illustrated, and published by myself. Physical copies were sold through my online shop and word of mouth. It was important whilst working on this for me to utilise my communication skills in order to be able to oversee the printing and promotion of the zine. I learned many skills whilst working on this project, including invaluable business skills, such as keeping accounts and project management. I was recently given the opportunity to design the cover for Clarence Oddbody's upcoming EP This involved communicating with the band in order to ensure that I could create a final product that truly represented the EP and that the band could be happy with. This allowed me to improve upon my communication skills, creative and practical talents and time management, as I was working towards a strict deadline.
