About Rebecca Holland, Bs English Ed. M.Div. Osl
I am currently serving as fulltime pastor in the Susquehanna Conference of the UMC and I am the chair of our conference's Disability Ministries. I was ordained as elder in the United Methodist Church in June of 2018. I am passionate about homiletics. I have committed myself to excellence in preaching and I have a background in public speaking. I view my writing as a natural outgrowth of my call to preach and an extension of my ministry. I self identify as a visually impaired, Filipina-American, clergywoman. As such, I am passionate about making space in the church for people who have been historically marginalized. It is my goal to help to make the church and the world fully inclusive for people with disabilities as well as women and people of color. In October of 2018, I started my blog, "Rev. Rebecca Writes: Read, Write, Pray." My writing is particularly focused on the intersection of faith, gender, race, and disability. My most recent book, Hope for the Broken: Using Writing to Find God's Grace, is now available from Touch Point Press. I am also the author of The United Methodist Church and Disability and Through My Good Eye: A Memoir in Verse. My work has appeared in United Methodist Insight, Hacking Christianity, and Doxology, among others.

CurrentIt is my joy and my honor to serve as the pastor at Christ Community UMC in Altoona, Pennsylvania. I am especially passionate about my call to preach. I have committed myself to the study of Biblical hermeneutics and Biblical exegesis in order to provide our congregation with dynamic and spirit-filled messages. I love our church and our church family. We will continue to work together to provide dynamic worship and radical hospitality in order to create disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
