As Communication Director I work to advance the mission of Madison Community Foundation (MCF) through the development and implementation of the strategic communication plan. • Develop and budget for an annual communication plan to support and accomplish the Foundation's annual and strategic goals, including publications, sponsorships, events, website content and strategy, public relations, social media and advertising.• Deepen the knowledge of existing and prospective fundholders about endowments, donor advised funds, legacy giving, and philanthropy-related tax topics. • Share stories about individual fundholders and donors and why they give.• Explore the work of nonprofit fundholders and grant recipients to highlight the impact of MCF's grantmaking and to raise awareness with our donors and fundholders of their work.• Develop strategic sponsorship plan to increase awareness of MCF within the community. • Work with Board of Governors members to help amplify MCF's story in the community through social media, media interviews and opinion pieces, blog posts and events.

As part of Northern Trust's Corporate MarCom team, I provide writing and editorial support to the marketing departments throughout North America, Europe and Asia for both personal and institutional clients. Specifically, I:• Helped develop thought leadership materials (papers, videos and website content) on investment-related topics, primarily for institutional investors. • Developed, wrote and implemented a thought leadership campaign with the FlexShares ETF team around their research on advisor wellness. • Worked closely with regional and national marketing directors to develop marketing and educational materials related to the company’s products and services. • Worked in conjunction with the web strategy team to redevelop the corporate website, including developing content for the personal financial services and corporate social responsibility groups. • Work to integrate content marketing strategies and best practices into campaigns to guide the company toward adopting a content-marketing focused approach. • Launched and served as managing editor for Wealth magazine, a quarterly publication for the company's wealth management clients.

As managing editor for the Professional Standards Group, edited six technical accounting books on:• Accounting for derivative instruments and hedging activities, • Accounting for leases, • Accounting for business combinations, • Accounting for financial assets and liabilities, • Accounting for compensation arrangements, and • A comparison of generally accepted accounting principles for 13 countries.I worked with partners and managers in the Professional Standards Group to regularly update the publications as new guidance emerged, and produced periodic Accounting Headlines on new or emerging technical accounting issues.

As managing editor, I oversaw the production of 25 bi-monthly and quarterly newsletters on such diverse topics as estate planning, business valuation, employee benefits and tax planning. I worked with subject matter experts at accounting firms across the country to create editorial calendars for newsletters, and also wrote and edited copy for some titles. I launched several new newsletters and retired unprofitable titles.
