As Market Manager for Australasia and Emerging Markets, I managed a team that look after China, India, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand, as well as other nurture markets such as Japan, Russia, and the rest of Asia. My remit was to identify and target those markets offering the greatest potential to Scotland in the coming 1-3 years. I worked closely with airlines to ensure the success of their routes and grow the inbound tourism to Scotland.

This was a new role within the team to give a strategic focus to the opportunities available as a result of Scotland hosting the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, The Ryder Cup 2014 and Homecoming Scotland 2014. My role was to maximise the tourism opportunities of these events from the domestic market and deliver additional tourism spend for Scotland.

Edinburgh’s purpose-built conference centre opened in 1995 with the objective to generate economic impact for the city and Scotland. As Marketing Manager, my overall objective was to attract events to Edinburgh and the EICC through destination marketing and brand awareness of the Centre. This was a B2B role, targeting Professional Conference Organisers and Associations directly through integrated Marketing & PR campaigns.

Trident was a lighting manufacturer supplying major consumer retailers such as Argos, Tesco, and John Lewis, as well as smaller independent retailers and chains. It designed products and brought them to market, working in partnership with suppliers based in China. My remit was to increase revenue through the smaller independent retailers and support the overall marketing strategy for the major chains.

Later known as FlyGlobespan, this company founded its business as a tour operator specialising in holidays to Majorca and Canada. Holidays were sold directly to the consumer via a call centre, company owned travel agents and online. Programmes were also marketed through the travel trade. I was focused on maximising the occupancy of flights and accommodation for the Majorca Programme.
