Becky has a passion for building engagement and capacity that allows great ideas to take flight, innovative programs to become reality, and communities to thrive. Becky has spent the majority of her career in the not-for-profit world, including running programs for youth at risk, working overseas, and in not-for-profit management. She currently leads fund development and strategic initiatives for artsPlace, a community arts centre based in Canmore Alberta. Prior to her current contract, she spent over a decade as the Executive Director of Organic Alberta where she took the organization from a $30,000 annual budget to over $1 Million and led the visioning, fundraising and implementation of a number of programs including the Prairie Organic Grain Initiative – a 4 year, $2.2 million prairie-wide program. Becky has extensive experience with fund development and has successfully raised millions of dollars for various organizations across her career. Becky also has expertise in strategic planning, research and analysis, community engagement, project management, program development, organization and business development, government relations, communications, facilitation and public speaking. She has a B.A. in Environment and Development, a Graduate Diploma in Environmental Education and a Masters in Anthropology. She is a high energy, entrepreneurial leader who is passionate about the roll that creativity and innovative thinking play in building healthy, resilient, environmentally sustainable communities.Areas of specialization: Arts and Culture, Food and Agriculture including local, organic and food security.
