Becky Raspe is an award winning journalist and a graduate of the Journalism and Promotional Communication program at Cleveland State University in Ohio. Her writing preference is centered around arts and culture journalism and magazine writing. She worked for her high school radio station and was a staff writer for the student publication The Cauldron at Cleveland State. She was on staff since the 2014 spring semester until graduation in 2016.She discovered her love for all facets of journalism when she was younger, participating on her middle school’s morning announcements TV station. While in college, she wrote around 30+ articles spanning from news stories, album reviews, video game reviews, movies reviews and opinion pieces for the Cauldron and one album review blog post for another Cleveland State publication, The Vindicator.She also wrote for a laboratory newspaper course at Cleveland State called The Cleveland Stater. She was the Social Media Manager for said laboratory newspaper and later the Managing Editor. She was a paid intern for Jakprints as a Copy Writer for four months.Soon after graduation, Becky was hired as a special sections staff reporter at the Cleveland Jewish News in Feb. 2017. She was elevated to Staff Reporter in Jan. 2021.In Sept. 2023, Becky was named the Interim Bureau Chief for the Columbus Jewish News, and was named permanent in that role in Jan. 2024. In this role, she curates the biweekly newspaper, edits each story, assigns work to both staff reporters and freelancers and curates relationships with the Central Ohio communities. Music and writing are very important parts of Becky’s life as they make their way into almost all parts of it. She is also an avid lover of anime and kpop.If she’s not working, you can find her playing story-based adventure video games, reading, in a mosh pit at a concert that’s probably damaging her eardrums or spending time with her longtime partner, David, and their two crazy cats, Mom and Mia.
