Together, my husband and I work with authors and publishers to bring stories and ideas to life through illustration and design.We work primarily on children’s books and journals, working closely with you to bring your story to life in visual form. Here’s a little about me as a creator:Expressive IllustrationsI live and breathe imagination, a different way of seeing the world developed from years of ill health and disability, where art was a creative release. Over time, I developed my artistic skills into visual storytelling - images with purpose and meaning. I aim to show emotion, quirkiness, and atmosphere through my illustrations. A story isn’t a story without emotion, right?Capturing the HebridesMy mornings are often spent creating little ink and watercolour illustrations of the Outer Hebrides, where we live. These are sometimes from photos we’ve snapped ourselves, and sometimes from moments that I’ve committed to memory. There’s so much changing beauty in this wild, windswept place with its welcoming little communities of villages, that I just can’t help but be drawn to it and inspired by it. If you’ve ever visited the Outer Hebrides, I’m sure you’ll know exactly what I mean!Children’s storiesAs co-writers, Ben and I have created our own stories and characters. You may see our Hebridean characters Bonny and Tommy pop up in my illustrations. Their picture books are based on a traditional crofting way of life, and are about appreciating nature and the simple things in life, with a twist of magic. You may also see lots of sheep pop up in our work. Ninja sheep. Or maybe you won’t, if they’re particularly good at camouflage. Their early-reader comic books are pure fantasy with a neurodiverse twist based on our own experiences with disability and neurodiversity.
