I returned to AWS in 2018 with the invaluable experience of having been an AWS customer myself. My focus since then has been on the security controls that we offer the customers of AWS. My direct areas of focus have been Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Simple Storage Service (S3). Additionally, I work both externally with some of our most demanding and forward-leaning AWS customers, as well as internally with a broad range of AWS service teams, as we constantly improve the capabilities that enable our customers to achieve their security goals in the cloud.

Virtru is protection that travels with your data. Virtru offers easy-to-use end-to-end encryption of your email and files, with full control and visibility over the data that you own.

I worked on Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), the technology in AWS that provides customers with a network for their cloud infrastructure, and later Lambda, AWS's serverless technology. Each of those services was growing rapidly, and thus my focus was on successfully scaling them, as well as defining and building the connectivity and security controls demanded by their diverse and expanding set of customers and use cases. During this time, I also spent a number of months working alongside AWS Professional Services directly with AWS customers, providing high-touch technical guidance on security strategies in the cloud.

2007-2013: Windows Phone. Provided technical leadership and architecture, as well as heavy involvement in implementation, for many features across the phone, including: Music and app store UI and infrastructure; media playback; multimedia processing; application model (process lifetimes, multitasking); battery life; reducing memory consumption; performance investigations. Conceived of and built diagnostic and testing infrastructure used across the product division.2003-2007: Windows Devices and Media. Responsible for API and architecture of Windows Media Foundation in Windows Vista and Windows 7. Media Foundation is the Windows platform for both real-time and offline reading, writing, and processing of multimedia data.2000-2003: Windows Media technologies. Designed and implemented the audio and video encoding features of the Windows Media Format SDK. Led a team of five developers to deliver those features in Windows XP. Wrote the Microsoft Advanced Streaming Format (ASF) specification and designed many features of the ASF format.1999-2000: Microsoft Speech API 5.0. Delivered key parts of the Speech SDK, including the Speech control panel; common speech recognition grammars; and development samples. Drove integration of speech features in Office XP.
