Uw-Madison Potato Variety Development Program Manager And Station Superintendent
In this role, I managed the establishment and care for field research and rotational cover crop plots including tillage, planting, spraying, irrigating, cultivating, scouting, and harvesting over 50,000 clones per year. I oversaw activities for greenhouse production of seedling mini-tubers and advanced potato breeding lines. I performed hybridization to generate true potato seed; test and track virus levels. I evaluated potato breeding lines for yield, dormancy, specific gravity, fry color, internal defects, and other commercially important traits. Additionally, I assisted breeders with Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs) and preparation of Plant Variety Protection (PVP) applications for new UW varieties.
