PTK advisors train students in leadership, teamwork, presentations, community involvement and so much more. The advisors are right there with them - helping them along the way. Lifelong relationships are often built between advisor and student. Advisors connect students to college administration for College Project - as a result these students are exposed to top administration and are recognized by administrators. Advisors also guide students through Honors in Action - a heavy researched based project. Students learn how to brainstorm and come to consensus and have friendly conversation around often controversial subjects. Both of these project expand the skills of the students and make them more employable and top candidates for scholarships. Now lets talk about scholarships - PTK members have an opportunity for millions of dollars in scholarships. Advisors help students with applications and review essays. PTK is an international honor society and students have opportunities to meet other PTK members from all over the world. They learn networking skills and meet people that become lifelong friends. Being a PTK advisor is one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.
