As Senior Advisor and Chief of Staff for the LDH-OPH-Bureau of Family Health, I am responsible for developing, directing, and supervising projects that are a priority for BFH. I serve as an advisor to the BFH Director, to formulate strategy, execute action, and keep an eye to the future while assuring deliverables and deadlines are met. In this role, I am flexible and respond to changing priorities (both within the Bureau and from external sources), and I prioritize work to address both immediate and long-term efforts. This role requires a high degree of independence and initiative. Together with the BFH Director and the Senior Management Team, I work to prioritize initiatives, develop work groups, lead project activities, troubleshoot and solve for obstacles and delays, implement and manage change, and report and provide continuous accountability on project progress. My role requires data analysis and presentation skills, along with advanced communication abilities to assure success.

I was on the Strategy, Policy, Marketing & Communications Team of the Bureau of Family Health within the Louisiana Department of Health – Office of Public Health. In this role, I oversaw a team of communications specialists and we were collectively responsible for planing, implementing, monitoring & evaluating communication campaigns that were designed to prevent and reduce risk factors related to maternal, infant, and child morbidity and mortality. I was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the health communication (health promotion) efforts of the Marketing/Communications unit, managing and supporting the development and maintenance of key partnerships with legislative stakeholders, and working to facilitate the mobilization of legislative policy and system level actions via considerations of evidence-based practices and innovative approaches. I also was a founding member of the Bureau's Health Equity Action Team (HEAT), which developed and implemented the health equity action plans. I co-chaired the HEAT communications workgroup and participated on the HEAT policy workgroup and advisory committee.
