The first 3 months consisted of classroom training which included both technical training in various programming languages and modeling techniques as well as practical business application. I also received an in depth knowledge of the financial services industry and how Information Technology fits in on a daily basis. Technical training was received in Java, SQL, Unix, and several data modeling techniques. The last three months of the training program incorporated working on a project with a group of other trainees. My responsibilities for the project consisted of eliciting requirements for a new User Interface for an application used within the firm. Once the proper requirements were gathered, wireframes and mockups were created and reviewed with the group. Other responsibilities included testing for QA purposes. Show less

The media department consisted of video games, music, movies, mp3 players and various other small electronic devices. As a team member it was my job to ensure shelves were properly stocked with the correct product and also that each item was priced correctly. On days of new releases there were often new displays which had to be constructed and stocked. This would often require working with another associate from an outside vendor. The largest responsibility was ensuring each customer received the best experience possible while shopping within our department. This would require meeting their needs end to end and making suggestions based upon a variety of factors such as price and usage of a certain product. Doing this also entailed often collaborating with other associates from other departments in a case of a customer needing multiple products.
