As Communications Director for the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy at Florida State University, have the pleasure of communicating with our current and prospective students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends, and the communities beyond impacted by our work. COSSPP is home to 12 departments and interdisciplinary programs, 11 centers and institutes, and 5 interdisciplinary labs. It also serves as the third largest college at FSU, helping more than 5,000 students each year along their academic journeys. Our 50,000+ alumni work around the globe to address the world’s challenges and to better their communities. To support this work, I run an internship program within our College and provide on-the-job learning opportunities to FSU students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Our students develop skills critical for workplace readiness and leave with comprehensive portfolios showcasing their writing, design, photography, and project management skills.

Provide clients with a range of photography services, including studio photography, wedding photography, and corporate photography with a special focus on studio portraiture and event photography. Design work ranges from developing proposals and presentations to branding.

Maintained all Communication Coordinator duties while developing a comprehensive policies and procedures manual with the Director and key staff. Provided strategic counsel to the Director for internal and external communications. Served on Florida State University’s International Advisory Committee to promote campus-wide internationalization efforts. Produced a weekly newsletter highlighting news, events, programs, and feature stories that reached approximately 10,000 members of the FSU community. Distributed information to international students through various channels, including through a tailored Canvas organization page, and the center’s social media. Developed a longitudinal database to track enrollment and utilization data for use in reports and with data visualization software.

Developed and implemented comprehensive marketing plans to promote CGE and its programs to targeted audiences using traditional and new media, resulting in increased programming participation. On average, attendance at the center’s signature event International Coffee Hour increased by 30 percent. Provided professional photography services, including studio portraiture and event photography. Served as a member of FSU’s University Communicators’ Network. Supervised a team of seven. Redesigned the CGE’s website and migrated it to the university’s CMS: Drupal. Performed website maintenance and updates as webmaster. Designed new and updated existing graphic materials to align with FSU’s current brand standards. Created and implemented procedures for swiping FSU ID cards at all CGE events to collect utilization data.

Developed and designed print and online materials for marketing. Coordinated business development projects – including proposal and presentation production – for competitive state, local, and federal contracts ranging up to $45 million.

Executed targeted national, statewide and local campaigns for both businesses and nonprofits achieving goals and providing strategic communications counsel and support. Day-to-day activities included message development, copywriting, media relations, public relations, social media management, grassroots advocacy, issues management, crisis communications, communications planning, internal communications and event planning. Serviced health care, sustainable energy, human services and nonprofit clients.

Managed and edited web content for Gunster's Boardroom Brief website through a Wordpress content management system. Composed and distributed a daily email marketing campaign to 5,000+ recipients for Gunster's Boardroom Brief top stories and blog posts. Monitored the blogs for feedback and commentary. Ensured the quality and functionality of the website by improving and correcting errors.

Drafted media materials, including press releases, media advisories and press kits. Researched and compiled media lists and pitch media. Assisted with advocacy and legislative outreach efforts. Assisted with the development of new business proposals and pitch presentations. Drafted monthly social media analytics reports. Researched and drafted content for newsletters, advocacy kits and other communications collateral. Assisted with the implementation and evaluation of client social media initiatives. Identified earned media opportunities and blogged for RB Oppenheim Associates.

Collaborated on new business proposals with suggested edits and ideas. Developed media and grassroots lists. Facilitated client partnerships with community organizations. Drafted press releases, web content, and copy for collateral materials. Wrote and managed blog posts for Taproot Creative's blog. Managed client social media initiatives.

Developed courseware for Nuclear Generation Group. Programmed content into an interactive, electronic format for nuclear training courses and NANTeL.

Photographed various special events, as well as carrying out administrative duties.
