Profile bio

About Bede Doherty

I'm retired and travelling the world - no fixed abode. However, if a chance arises to contribute to something real and significant, somewhere, I'm available for a chat. It would be better to email me as I don't visit LinkedIn very often. Also, I use WhatsApp and don't have an Aus phone number any more. My contact details are in LinkedIn. I am driven by contributing to addressing climate change and its economic, environmental and social impacts. I want to be a ‘good ancestor’ for my descendants, and to make the world a safer place. As a person, I get big, complex things done - efficiently and effectively - after leading some out of the box thinking to achieve the quantum leap and after selling it to the Board / Minister. I recently assisted JET Charge - among many old friends and ex-colleagues - working on development & implementation of world-leading financial products (CaaS), designed to transform the dynamic charging infrastructure sector, especially "behind the meter". ACTEWAGL:I completed a consulting engagement to ActewAGL Energy with the objective of leading design & implementation of a new suite of products & processes to accelerate demand for EVs in the region across the government, commercial and consumer sectors. This strategy enabled the company to significantly increase demand for its core product, electricity; improve customer retention & attraction; capture revenue from global oil companies into an Australian energy company; diversify into a new 'sticky' customer product-set; save the customer money; reduce transport emissions and support its government-owner's zero-emissions requirements. Profitably. We achieved the following, from zero, within 9 months of my arriving - a great tribute to ActewAGL executives’ courage to pivot to a new world so quickly: www.electricvehiclehub.com.au AGL:In 2021, I completed a 2-year consulting engagement on the electrification of transport for its 4+ million business & consumer customers, including work in EVs, charging infrastructure, and inclusion of EVs into automated distributed energy management. I led an R&D project on reducing the cost-per-km of EVs to below the cost-per-km of ICEs, by means of innovative financing options. The project was approved for funding by AGL-NEXT, AGL's Innovation Lab. I also led AGL to be the first company in Australia to join EV100 and led subsequent implementation - including revised procurement & operations policy, and planning of fleet transition & charging infrastructure.

Listed skills include Change Management, Business Transformation, Business Strategy, Stakeholder Engagement, and 16 others.
