I graduated from Pearl Academy of Fashion, New Delhi, INDIA, 2009 with BA (honours) Degree. I have developed work that was well researched, original and received an award for the most innovative collection at Pearl. I am intrigued by the whole process of designing clothes, from the inspiration to the final product. My enthusiasm lies in exploring different ideas while working on a concept. Usually working with a predetermined look in mind, I, absorb myself in the process of sketching my ideas on paper.Through experimentation I evolve new techniques, both conventional and unconventional. My Graduate collection, “In my dad’s shoes” was inspired by childhood memories of strutting around in my dad’s clothes. Exploring unconventional ways of wearing my dad’s shirts I created interesting silhouettes, translating them into wearable garments for women.Having worked at Ranna Gill as a Senior Designer for three and a half years, I have had the opportunity to work on individual collections and display them at various fashion shows, national and international exhibitions. My work profile at Ranna Gill consisted of finding a concept to work on, research & analysis, development of artworks, sourcing fabrics & trims, exploring different techniques of surface ornamentation. Study current trends and amalgamate it with explorations to illustrate designs and translate them to wearable samples for different seasons like resort, spring-summer and autumn-winter. Designing accessories, managing and styling looks for shows and photo shoots. As part of international exposure, I have travelled to New York, Enk International Coterie for research and to China, Shanghai for Inter textile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics and Guangzhou for fabric and trim sourcing. My strength lies in adapting to different working styles and I intend to utilize my experience and design aesthetics to maximize the potential of the product I am employed to design and develop.
