About Brett Beetham

I am looking into a career to expand on my experience! I have been engaged in politics since the middle of my teenage years because of energetic teachers. This made me engage with local youth groups and eventually to be elected as representative for Hastings and Bexhill in the East Sussex Youth Cabinet. This successfully run campaign helped me engage with students, younger and older as well as those not inside mainstream schooling. This campaigning brought together a great interest in all fields of politics, as I listened to everyone's needs and thoughts. I listened to what the problem was, which was expensive transport for young people and within my two year term myself and the transport team created a 3i-D card in East Sussex. Which allowed cheaper travel, proof of ID and discounts at local stores, all this by the age of 18. I then went to university to learn more about politics and engage with societies to further increase my knowledge. I became engaged with political events such as debates, fundraising and more. I then decided to join a society as a committee member and stood for secretary and got voted in for secretary. In this role I have communicated with lots of societies, companies and people to get events and funding sorted. The society is the biggest it has ever been, because of the events, increased social media presence and good PR. Outside university I wanted more engagement in politics whilst not compromising the education so I talked to tutors, who allowed me a week off of studies to represent the UK in the Young European Council. This event shaped more as a person, allowing me to represent the UK's interest in the EU, bringing all sort of debates and topics to discussion. Not only did ideas get shared, analysed and debated but by working as one team we managed to collectively build proposals to commissioners and heads of organisations by the end of the week. This is just a brief summary, look below for more detail.

Listed skills include Public Speaking, Research, Powerpoint, Microsoft Office, and 16 others.
