Partnering with chemical engineers, a material scientist, and analytical chemists in a safety-first culture my key responsibilities were to design experiments to evaluate catalyst performance in lab-scale reactors, develop optimum catalyst formulation, supervise catalyst synthesis, and provide feedback on ceramic carrier specifications. I worked with alumina supported silver nanoparticle catalysts for gas phase high pressure ethylene oxidation to ethylene oxide. Besides traditional petrochemical process, I provided new insights into bio-renewable route which utilizes ethylene produced from ethanol dehydration. I also served as a technical expert supporting remarkably skilled attorneys in patent opposition cases. My main accomplishments were developing new lab-scale reactor testing methods that correlate with commercial plant performances and demonstrating the effect of various impurities on catalyst aging. http://www.scidesign.com/
