• Conducted desk review for three sites in Libya, Republic of Tatarstan-Russian Federation to be inscribed ICESCO list of the Islamic World Heritage.• Rendered technical & scientific support to the Scientific Committee through observations, preliminary assessment, and recommendations regarding the possibilities of the inscription of the proposed properties.

As a Heritage Architect with Studio International Engineering Consultants (SIEC), I have currently been assigned to work on a hospitality development project in a buffer zone at a World Heritage site. I have been appreciated for my efforts in preserving the sanctity of the places of historical significance. I use IFC and shop drawings and ensure project requirements are met in terms of conservation objectives and construction guidelines. One of my key tasks is to oversee compliance with design calculations, technical specifications, and statutory regulations. Additionally, I interact with clients regularly to share updates and note any request for change. My job also requires me to collaborate with consultants, contractors, and vendors. During project review meetings, I present progress reports, specific strategies that I designed for the implementation of the heritage elements, discuss technical and engineering issues, and gather the relevant inputs. I also work with the PM Consultant on-site and undertake inspections, where we verify safety, construction quality, and overall project compliance. During the fabrication of 1,800,000 mud bricks, I followed authentic construction techniques that apply to mud buildings.

Offering extensive technical observations and evaluation, I worked closely with the Scientific and the Heritage committees for the inscription—ICESCO List of Islamic World Heritage 2021—on 3 sites in Morocco and Palestine. The nomination list on the Islamic World Heritage sites included Hisham's Palace or Qasr Hisham in Jerusalem, The Old Medina of Taza, and the Medina of Zarhoun in Morocco. During this period, I submitted an in-depth analysis of the 3 cultural property and the Islamic World Heritage Potential of Desert Castles from early Islamic periods. The reviews I submitted for these sites were in Arabic and English, which included recommendations to promote the sites as suitable picks for inscription.

In the role of a Heritage Site Senior Specialist, I handled nominations of cultural and historical sites in the UAE based on set parameters. For this, I worked alongside local bodies. As part of reviews, I presented the SGTS Management Plan for eight nominated sites and submitted observations and selection recommendations to UNESCO. I was assigned to make the necessary preparations for 2 heritage sites for an assessment by an ICOMOS Expert. To get this done, I collaborated with 7 technical personnel and 50 site managers across 3 sites. At the office here, I was known for effectively addressing cultural heritage legislation and processes, for which I made over 25 presentations, and I did not stop at this. I arranged workshops and community meetings to involve the public and garner support for site nominations. I handled the Signage and Wayfinding project for the eight nominated sites, according to the standard guidelines issued for this activity. I worked extensively with several multidisciplinary teams such as Architects, archaeologist, historians, engineers, local community etc. to implement Urban Design Guidelines (UDG) and architectural and development standards across core and buffer zones for these nominated sites. My job also included drawing up risk management and mitigation plans for all 8 sites. Due to this project, I also became familiar with the Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) that I submitted for one of the nominated sites.

Positions held:- Mar 2016 - May 2018: UNESCO World Heritage Site Curator & Director of the Conservation Office of the Old Medina of Tunis- Apr 2007 - Feb 2016: Chief Architect/Principal Architect Role:During this period, I was responsible for managing the Old Medina Conservation Office, leading 200 workers and 30 technical and administrative staff. I submitted reviews for the restoration and conservation of historical monuments (houses, palaces, forts, and mosques). I handled the entire spectrum of activities for restoration works, development, maintenance, and historical monuments monitoring. I also formulated approval systems and applied for building permits in the Medina of Tunis for UNESCO sites. I played a key role in promoting heritage tourism and ensured heritage conservation and tourism teams worked well together to achieve the sustainability objectives. I contributed to the restoration of several sites, including reviews, planning, budgeting, development, and closing. When I accepted this assignment, I was the Chief Architect/Principal Architect handling the conservation and management of the Old Medina of Tunis. During my time here, I delivered many restoration projects, from review to execution for houses, mosques, palaces, shops, covered souqs, and forts. I also drew up agreements between the National Heritage Institute and other administrative bodies (ministries, governorates, municipalities, NGOs, etc.) for rehabilitation projects. Some of the sites I restored and maintained were Palace Errachidia, Dar Caid Essebsi, and the Torba El-Bachia.

•Conducted subject-related classes for architectural and engineering students through lectures, small group activities, and hands-on learning activities.•Focused on subjects like the history of art for Architectural students, environmental impact assessment (EIA) for Architecture students, town planning for engineering students, theory of architecture for architecture students, and AutoCAD for Architecture students.

•Functioned as a member of an international multidisciplinary team (11 professionals from 10 countries) to prepare, implement and provide logistics for the CollAsia International Course on "Conservation and Use" for Southeast Asian Groups. Indonesia.•Prepared and implemented the training course on Training of Trainers: “Preventive Preservation and Risk Preparedness of Cultural Heritage” in Libya then in Sharjah, and in several ICCROM Sharjah meetings.
