Part-time lecturer at UM's School of Communication teaching undergraduate courses in graphic design, multimedia, web, and infographic design. Multimedia design courses included an introductory class in graphic design, covering the basics of typography, color theory, design principles and using them to create a variety of designs such as logos, business cards, posters, magazine spreads, and infographics. Web design was an introductory class in HTML and CSS, with students coding a site for their final project. For infographic design, students learned how to read and interpret data to create a variety of simple and complex infographics with a news angle. Some illustration was encouraged in both multimedia and infographic courses as well.

Animations made using After Effects.Between 2009 and 2011, I managed a 5-person staff to produce the weekly, full-page, science infographics called News Illustrated, including coordinating the production schedule and editing the graphics. Responsible for helping the staff conceptualize ideas, research and report the projects as well as edit their illustrations and designs.Also help with any managerial duties when necessary, such as attending daily or enterprise planning meetings, assist the graphics director with editing projects, coordinate with the newsroom staff on various projects, and spearhead breaking news projects in the graphics director's absence.From 2009-2010, also worked with the paper's sister television station, WSFL, in producing graphics for The Morning Show in our staff's weekly rotation. Graphics produced using Photoshop, After Effects and Final Cut. Also have basic knowledge in VizRT.

Originally hired as part of the two-year professional development program where I spent time designing section fronts and inside pages for the news, opinion and features departments. I also worked for the graphics editor as his assistant, where my main responsibilities were attending daily planning meetings, helping assign projects to the staff, assisting artists with research and reporting, and producing small daily and enterprise projects.

Produced section fronts and inside pages for both the features and sports departments. Occasionally created illustrations for stories, and had basic experience with pre-press production.Became one of the first staffers to learn the newspaper's new pagination system, and helped transition the sports and features designers from Mac-based applications to the PC-based system. Often provided technical support on a daily basis to the design teams throughout the transition.

Spent three months at the Inquirer as part of the Chips Quinn Minority internship and scholarship program. Learned the basics of features design and infographics during my tenure.Responsible for producing some feature section fronts, inside pages and various basic infographics for the newspaper.
