Non-Executive DirectorKea New Zealand Sep 2013 - Aug 2014Auckland, New ZealandI was appointed to the Global Kea New Zealand Board of Directors as non-excutive member with strengths in digital technology and social media. This is a tenured position. I am enthusiastic for all things Kiwi, both locally and globally. I am a keen ambassador for our borderless nation of 4 million Kiwis and want to see all New Zealanders succeed (including the wonderful people who adopt New Zealand as their home either temporarily or permanently). Council MemberThe New Zealand Peace Foundation Aug 2013 - Aug 2014Auckland, New ZealandAdvocate for peace and grow, challenge and support the actions and activities of the New Zealand Peace Foundation. I believe that by every action and inaction we each contribute to a thriving or dying planet. It can be as simple as every person on the planet waking up tomorrow and taking full responsibility for themselves. Tiny acts like stopping to up rubbish on a walk to work, of giving money to people who are without and of sharing time to communities that need it add up to a successful planet. And we all have a share in that.My story is a lucky one. I had the great fortune to be adopted ten days after I was born into an extraordinary family with four children and two incredible guiding forces I have had the honour to call my parents. Very sadly, my father passed away just two months ago. In a trick of surprising timing, my mother, sister and I were able to care for him until he slipped quietly away at dawn. This has been the most significant event of my life. Not because we cared for Dad until he died but because it has been a potent reminder of all that is good in this world. My father believed in the power of the individual to make change. He taught me that we can be bold every single day and lead change. My contribution isn’t going to be in inventing a magnificent machine; it is in being authentic and connecting people to their dreams by living mine.In my household all people mattered. Differences like ethnicity, wealth, religious beliefs and sexuality made for dynamic and valued contributions. In it I learned integrity and generosity, and to seize opportunity and give people theirs. I also have a powerful family connection to peace with my great grandfather, Prime Minister Sir Walter Nash, having been a prominent pacifist. I am driven by his and my father's legacies and the belief I can connect people to their dreams by living mine.
