The winery (E.&J.the winery) is located in the Sonoma County (Sonoma County) wine region of California (California). The winery won the title of "The Most Powerful Wine Brand" for eight consecutive years (2006-2013). The winery is the world's largest family-run winery and the world's largest winery in terms of sales volume. It sells wines in more than 90 countries and is the largest exporter of Californian wines. As a family winery, the winery believes that it is very important for future generations to enjoy natural resources as happily as we do now. As early as the 1930s, when Ernest and Julio founded the winery together, they began to undertake environmental protection work. Julio introduced an innovative approach to land conservation in Sonoma County called the 50/50 Land Giveback Program. For every acre cultivated in the vineyard, Giulio leaves an acre for wildlife habitat. Today, the winery has applied the 50/50 land return plan to its vineyards throughout the California coast, which is the first principle of the winery's sustainable development practice. In addition, the winery also cooperates with the Wine Association and the California Grape Growers Association, and is one of the main drafters of the "Sustainable Viticulture and Winemaking Practice Guidelines". Through these and other creative environmental projects, the winery became the first winery in the United States to receive ISO14001 certification from the International Standards Organization for environmental protection.

Yingke Development, whose full name is Yingke Asia Development Co., Ltd., is a company under Li Zekai, the second son of Hong Kong businessman Li Ka-shing, and is listed in Singapore. The company respectively holds PCCW and indirectly holds the shares of two companies listed in Hong Kong, PCCW Real Estate. In 2006, Newbridge Capital, a U.S.-owned company that wholly holds PineBridge Investments, proposed to privatize Yingke Development at S$0.305 per share.
