My grounding in the environmental and life sciences has developed a strong commitment to sustainability and the environment. I firmly believe that the current global environmental crises is the direct result of a lack of public awareness. Thus, I aspire to engage with communities to share my own knowledge and passion about the issues within climate science. I aim to increase public awareness through communication and education, inspiring others to share their own knowledge.I’m currently a retail assistant at Kmart and a student at the University of Newcastle studying a bachelor’s degree in Climate Science and Adaptation. I am personally and professionally inspired to develop my skills that will allow me to further my career and address my aspirations towards complex environmental issues. On a daily basis, I am actively communicating with the public, as a retail assistant I am consistently interacting with customers, communicating and listening to them, sharing product knowledge and helping them in a professional and effective manner, helping to increase sales and customer satisfactionAt university, my degree is diverse and collaborative. Teamwork is often completed in a variety of settings. I am constantly learning to adapt my own skills and capabilities to a variety of situations, ensuring my input is equal and valued to group work. I discuss these qualities with others, and ensure I understand others own qualities. This allows me to achieve higher grades and a deeper understanding of my own skills.
