I volunteered in this shop to gain important insight into an animal charity I admire. My role included customer liaison, handling logistics in the stock room and working cooperatively in a small team to prepare sales. It was a rewarding experience being able to improve my own interpersonal skills along with the knowledge that my time commitment was valuable to the greater mission of PDSA.

This customer service role allowed me to experience working with the general public under pressure within time constraints, dealing with admissions and finance, all while maintaining exceptional company standards. I was one of the first points of contact for up to 15000 guests daily, so I had to be adaptable and handle any queries and problems. The role taught me how to efficiently use patience, empathy and resilience as skills in a workplace environment.
