I covered crime and police issues in the nation's capital, which took me from all kinds of crime scenes at all hours of the day to city police board meetings with senior officers to verdicts at the Supreme Court of Canada.It is a high-intensity position that demanded effective interviewing, time management and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail, quick execution of articles and daily story generation. My work regularly ran in newspapers and on websites across the province and country.I was also responsible for video footage and photographs, as well as promoting our work through my social media accounts.I thrive in a busy and ever-changing environment, and am comfortable with multiple deadlines, late-breaking stories and where each day can bring something different.
