With a unique blend of roles as a beneficiary, funder, and nonprofit leader, and over 15 years of experience in community development, philanthropic fundraising, grantmaking, nonprofit leadership capacity strengthening, people management, and partner engagement in the Global North and South. My diverse perspective has allowed me to support people and organizations in their efforts to improve social justice, equity, and access to health, education, and stability. I am currently the Director of Development for the Indianapolis Muslim Community Association, responsible for mobilizing people and financial resources for the community, including the MTI School of Knowledge, Ilm Weekend School, Masjid Al-Fajr, Food Pantry, and other community initiatives.With proven experience in research, policy, and technical writing, I have made significant contributions as part of a team of 20 researchers who developed the Islamic Annotation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), contributed to the book Islam and the Challenges of Corruption in Nigeria, and served as a Researcher with the Ansari Institute for Global Engagement with Religion, working on a Handbook on Religious Diversity in the Workplace. I also served as a research team member for the Carnegie Foundation’s extensive research on higher education philanthropy in Africa.I honed my grant-making skills while serving as a Program Officer at Elevance Health Foundation, where I was part of a team that recommended grants worth over 90 million USD to organizations implementing Food, Mental, and Maternal Health Programs in the United States and Puerto Rico.As a fundraiser, I have sharpened my prospecting and grant writing skills, trained high-ticket clients on these subjects, and received over $5 Million USD from corporate and individual donors.Guided by a strong belief in the transformative power of philanthropy and social justice, I am committed to empowering communities and individuals to drive positive social change.
