I successfully managed the implementation of two primary directives during this period while working with my direct reports, 5 infrastructure architects, IT management, Customer Service, Office of Application Services, Operations division, SLED, and vendors to complete all required work. The 1st directive required that I lead the effort of providing a new network for the new HQ building at 700 North 10th Street. Team members from each discipline were required to identify and document the “As-Is” and “Target” environments and the business functions these environments supported. During the move process, this information was used for planning purposes and for identifying potential gaps when communicating with internal teams as well as with the construction company and its subcontractors and our primary gaming vendor, IGT. There were many challenges during the move process, from moving the hosted public websites and hosting a new telephone system, to designing and implementing a corporate Wi-Fi solution and modernizing an old video conferencing platform. I built strong relationships with the Operations team, the construction company and several subcontractors that included wiring, video conferencing, telecom, network, Wi-Fi, and telephony companies. These relationships were built by communicating effectively on outstanding issues, providing status updates, meeting deadlines, and having the ability to speak their language through working sessions. All hardware and software solutions were discussed and tested before any system was moved to the new HQ building. The 2nd directive required that I lead the effort of addressing performance issues that were identified at most of the Lottery district offices. Addressing this issue was an extension of working with the telephony vendor for the new HQ building. The solution included implementing a Disaster Recovery site, a new network that increased bandwidth by almost 10x.
