I work in the Block 40/50 F-16 System Test group. In System Test, we are in charge of testing software written by the different subsystem developers to verify its functionality and that it meets requirements that are frequently being modified and added to the overall system as software capability and robustness continue to increase. On a daily basis I have to troubleshoot, assess, and solve problems both hardware and software related by using engineering principles and problem solving. In System Test, we test the software by loading it into the different subsystems integrated into the test stands that we perform our requirements testing on. We are also in charge of updating the requirement documents that drive aircraft system functionality.I have learned about and worked closely with several subsystems of the aircraft including the avionics, radar, anti-ground collision avoidance (AGCAS) system, Link 16, mission planning software, as well as various weapons and their necessary hardware. I have had experience handling, connecting and testing with some of the exact same weapons, LRUs, and other various pieces of hardware that are currently used on the Block 40/50 F-16. Currently the majority of my workload involves working with the Link 16 data network. I have had experience diagnosing and troubleshooting both hardware and software problems with the integrated test stands that we perform our testing on, as well as troubleshooting the LRUs that have been integrated into the test stands. I have had a lot of exposure to the different avionics systems of the aircraft, becoming familiar with the requirements that drive their functionality, how they are designed, and how to troubleshoot them. I have become proficient at determining how requirements are generated, how to modify them as the various systems evolve and are updated over time through newly implemented functionality and software changes, and how to modify them as the system evolves.
