This role is focused on the end-to-end delivery of technology and data solutions targeted at fulfilling the objectives of two key North American business segments.Tasked with expanding the IT innovation culture at Syngenta, success will be achieved by not only aligning the strategic business vison with existing technology, but also by evolving the strategy to implement new solutions.

This custodian/steward hybrid role owns the customer Master Data domain in North America for the Crop Protection division at Syngenta. Responsible for the quality, integrity, and value of customer information throughout the full Data Lifecycle spanning multiple integrated systems. The primary platform for data management (including the Master Data Management process) is SAP. Critical integrated systems include Salesforce, and Oracle, as well as numerous smaller platforms used to analyze, transform, govern and consume data.This key data strategy role is accountable for not only improving the stability and usability of the current data environment, but also acting as a leader in developing a new information management approach targeted at evolving Syngenta’s future data consumption and governance framework.While a focus on data strategy is key to success, equal attention is given to the execution and support of critical Agile projects, business programs, application enhancements and production fixes in the Crop Protection data environment. The goal of the custodial model at Syngenta is to promote the “data as an asset” culture, to incubate data stewardship, and ultimately to enable the business to increase revenue by leveraging the value provided by accurate, accessible, and properly mastered customer data.

Responsible for increasing and sustaining the quality of Customer Master Data across the North American region by providing Master Data Management process and data expertise. This position was recruited and staffed through TEKsystems.

The Reference Data Steward role is a key position within the Data Governance structure at Kaiser Permanente. As the recognized enterprise expert for Reference Data, the role is designed to unite responsibility with authority. In line with data governance standards, the Reference Data Steward provides data descriptions, definitions, context, and data management practices commensurate with their deep knowledge of the Reference Data Domain. In conjunction with this, the Data Steward is expected to implement new policies and standards that improve the management, governance, usage, sharing and maturity of Enterprise Reference Data. This includes ongoing assessments of all regulatory requirements including the California Consumer Privacy Acct (CCPA) and the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).As they are closely aligned, to ensure the success of the Reference Data Management effort I also have specific accountabilities around integrating with and supporting the Master Data Management (MDM) and Metadata programs being implemented at Kaiser Permanente. Current efforts include the proper management, architecture, transformation and consumption of Reference Data through the various zones of an enterprise Data Lake environment.

Charter member of the Data Governance team in the Enterprise Data Office (EDO). The EDO Data Governance team was created as a Second Line of Defense entity within the Risk Management Organization targeted at creating, implementing, and subsequently maturing the Data Governance and Data Steward environment at BB&T. In addition to key leadership in the creation of the overall Data Governance program, I had accountability for the creation and execution of an oversight framework for the Data Governance practices being implemented, and for the Data Management practices already in existence (including Metadata Management, Data Quality profiling, Master Data Management (MDM), Data Retention, Data Provisioning and Data Consumption). The oversight framework included technology audits targeted at assessing the appropriate use and security of various information management tools.Ongoing oversight and governance activity included a process for identifying, collecting, quality testing, and maintaining the KDEs (Key Data Elements) critical for operational success. KDE management involved the creation of full data lineage and the collection of both business and technical metadata.Our key mandate was to balance the requirements of operating in a highly regulated, risk-aware environment with the needs of a data driven organization.Additionally, I served as the primary owner of the RCSA (Risk Control Self-Assessment) function, and in partnership with the Operational Risk Management group, created and conducted the Process-to-Risk assessment for the Enterprise Data Office. Utilizing an Archer based platform, this function focused on identifying risks and testing their associated controls, which is critical to the success of a self-assessment based risk environment.

Leader of the team responsible for information management, data analysis, and reporting within the Consumer Insurance group. As the Data Steward for the business, I acted as the liaison between the line of business and the enterprise technical group. My responsibilities included ownership of the data and key leadership/participation on projects focused on information usage (including strategic planning, transition, divestiture, privacy, audit, risk, and marketing). Keys to my success included:• Implementation of a Data Quality program focused on data within my portfolio.• Ownership of all metadata specific to the Insurance business.• Participation in and management of the Master Data Management (MDM) lifecycle specific to Insurance data.My team was also tasked with driving and managing projects to implement changes and improvements to the bank’s Big Data environment (including database architecture redesign activities, improvements to the Master Data Management (MDM) lifecycle, metadata process and tool improvements) to meet the needs of both data consumers and the enterprise.Additionally, I was the owner of complex enterprise systems, applications and the production environment used for customer behavior analysis, portfolio analytics and data mining. This included the Insurance system of record for accounts, customers, & claims, which was aggregated from multiple diverse sources (external insurance companies, external data processors (Allant, Epsilon, IBM, etc), marketing partners, and internal applications). Ultimately, I was responsible for the security and data quality within multiple data environments and maintained a high level of expertise around the data to ensure that it was provisioned, protected, and consumed properly.
