Providing Feasibility advice on potential investments across Australia in various planning systems

As part of a Masters degree Ben completed an internship with National Park and Wildlife and the Friends of Black Hill and Morialta to create a conservation plan for a large part of Morialta Conservation Park. This involved field work, mapping, qualitative and quantitative research, data analysis and community engagement.

For three months attached to an economics team. Conducted a range of research and proposal development projects

Ben worked in the Adelaide Skilled Service Hub supporting teams from around Australia on a range of multidisciplinary projects. Using his skills in land use planning, research, policy analysis and data analytics whilst picking up a variety of new skills such as data collection and proposal support.

Ben as a Vacation Scholarship Student recipient completed a 2 month research project into Australia’s Urban and Regional Planning profession. Involving excel data analysis to understand the demographics of the profession. He also completed a literature review at an international scope for supporting the argument he produced into an academic report.

Ben as a Student Leadership Scholarship recipient. Under coaching from student leadership staff and using skills he had learnt through various extracurricular leadership training given by the university. Ben completed a Australian Technology Network Universities internship funded by the Australian Governments New Colombo Plan. The Internship was virtual with an Indonesian host company during the COVID years where travel was impossible. Ben researched a variety of urban development facilities such as Industrial estates particularly in Indonesia and around the world. Developing his Urban Design skills in presenting research visually using infographics and maps.

Ben completed through the Australian Network on Disability an internship at the Australian Bureau of Statistics. He worked as part of a team to review test surveys involving SAS programming and analysing data. He completed an data analysis project comparing two surveys.

Ben completed his university placement in the Coast and Marine Branch at the South Australian Department for Environment and Water. The branch had a focus on assessing development applications in coastal regional South Australia. Ben worked in a multidisciplinary team with planners, environmental scientists and engineers. Ben completed a project to research coastal planning policies interstate. He was regularly involved in preparing agendas for the Coast Protection Board meetings
