I became an MCSE in 2001 and worked as a contractor before becoming IT manager for a Shipping company. I was responsible for resource and equipment all over the world including the satellite and communications hardware on the ships.I then moved into the financial sector working for a subsidiary of HBoS. I managed a small team of support staff and engineers working on projects pertaining to data integrity, disaster recovery and migrations, both desktop and server. During my time here I also qualified as a certified ethical hacker (CEH). I then moved on to the Financial Times where I fulfilled a number of technical roles before being asked to manage projects for the head of security and compliance. Projects included encryption, SOX Compliance, Anti-Virus, Asset Management and PCI compliance. During this time I learnt the agile project management structure and became a qualified Prince2 Practitioner.At HomeAway I run infrastructure projects, managed our datacentre and have been heavily involved with our move to the cloud. With email now moved to Microsoft 365, Google Apps, Single Sign On and now Microsoft Azure I see the way we all work is going through a major change and I'm doing everything I can to champion that change.At Admiral the last 2 years have been focused almost exclusively on our messaging platform and eventual migration to Office 365 in my role as Technical Lead for the Office 365 project. Since joining Admiral, I have worked for the Projects Team, upgrading, implementing and improving. I have been the technical lead on many projects using lots of different technologies including F5 load balancers, Palo-Alto firewalls, Citrix Storefront, LANDesk Management suit and more however I remain at heart a Microsoft guy.
