Originally formed while still students at Christchurch's Cashmere High School, Zed (Originally known as "Supra") is the dream child of Nathan King, Ben Campbell and Adrian Palmer, along with manager Ray Columbus.They felt the band needed a second guitarist and Andrew Lynch was hired in that capacity in 2000.The band worked with producer David Nicholas (INXS) on their first album Silencer. Silencer was released in 2000 in New Zealand. The album debuted at number one on the New Zealand Album Charts, quickly achieving quadruple platinum status, and creating six hit singles. "Renegade Fighter" was also the number-one song in New Zealand for the year 2000.The follow up album 'This Little empire' also received platinum status and included several hit singles.Zed took a hiatus in 2005, with the band members trying separate musical ventures. The band reunited in 2008 for a one off performance at the Vector Arena.In April 2005, in Hollywood, California, producer Hank Linderman (The Beach Boys, Eagles) introduced NZ rocker Ben Campbell to 19 year old American solo artist Sean Cunningham. Introduced mainly for songwriting collaboration, they decided to form the band Atlas.Atlas released their hit single "Crawl" at the beginning of 2007, and in the week of March 14, "Crawl" debuted at #9 before moving up to claim the top spot of the RIANZ Top 40 Singles Chart the next week, where it stayed at #1 for nine consecutive weeks. It was NZ's highest selling single of 2007.Their album release 'Reasons For Voyaging' debuted at #4 in Nov 2007 and achieved gold sales.
