Working as part of a team of 4 analysts and 1 manager we were responsible for providing IT support to the full business (1200 staff members spread across 125 sites). Based in the head office in Leeds I provided remote support to the staff based at depot for all hardware and software in use; including HP Thin clients, Citrix and the Office 365 Suite. Some of my daily duties included fixing any broken hardware which had been sent to head office for example printers or PCs, I was also expected to attend other sites on occasions to resolve more urgent problems.
It Support Analyst
In my time at Wrigleys I gained much more experience in the IT industry having being the first point of contact for 170 users. My duties within this role included providing technical support to all staff across the firm’s infrastructure which included Citrix, Windows and Microsoft Office as well as helping other IT staff members and sharing my knowledge when required. I was also tasked with maintaining and configuring the practice’s backup software. As part of my daily duties I was expected to resolve problems on a first line basis when possible, or liaise with third party support when needed. My responsibilities also included maintaining the IT infrastructure already in place including the network equipment, Active Directory and Exchange servers. As well as support I got involved with any project work which is being carried out by the IT team. As part of the role I would also coach the staff members and provide at desk training for any questions they may have had with regards to software use.
Service Desk Analyst
Within my role as a service desk analyst it was my responsibility to be the first point of contact for all calls logged, working as part of a team of 12 we provided support for all head office sites and branches. As part of the job it was up to me to ensure I fixed issues on a first contact basis were possible and escalate to the relevant team when not. Following ITIL Best Practice procedure it was sometimes necessary to take ownership of incidents and press for updates to ensure the end user received a speedy outcome. On a day to day basis we received our incidents through telephone, support requests and also emails.
Hosting & Vps Support Technician
I began working at 123-Reg as a hosting Support Technician providing support to their hosting customers. I then moved onto the role of VPS Support Technician after been promoted from the Hosting Support role, within this role I supported through the same avenues however it was a different platform. I changed to support virtual private servers both running windows and linux as their operating systems. My day to day duties included answering support tickets and support calls, dealing with any issues and escalating higher when needed. Whilst supporting issues I typically had to login to the customer’s servers through RDP and SSH to investigate the issue and try and resolve it if possible. If I had to escalate an issue it was my responsibility to follow up on the issue and ensure it came to a suitable conclusion.
