Magna Cum Laude graduate, University of Minnesota-Duluth, Exercise Science B.A.Sc. Working as an ER scribe and phlebotomist this past year has provided the perfect balance of growing my interpersonal skills and hands-on experience in healthcare. For example, having blood drawn is typcially an unpleasant experience for most. Being empathetic to this allowed me as a phlebotomist an opportunity to communicate with patients, work them through the situation, and make them feel comfortable. Additionally, during my time in the ER, I was exposed to a wide variety of procedures and able to observe the individualized care given by each physician. These experiences have only ignited my passion more to become a healthcare professional who can make a difference. I use this drive every single day; challenging myself to make each interaction with another individual to be as positive as possible. Encounters like this mold me into someone with hopes to one day become a physician who treats others with compassion and respect.
