Research Fellow: Space Weather Model Software And System DeveloperSurrey Space Centre Sep 2020 - PresentGuildford, England, United KingdomWorking on the UK Government SWIMMR program, to develop and integrate the MAIRE atmospheric radiation model into the Met Office space weather services as well delivering the SAIRA airborne radiation monitors to STFC. SWIMMR (Space Weather Instrumentation, Measurement, Modelling and Risk) is a £20 million, four-year programme that will improve the UK's capabilities for space weather monitoring and prediction. The MAIRE model is tasked with calculating radiation risk to aviation during space weather events. The SAIRA instruments will routinely fly and provide data to validate the outputs of MAIRE.I am responsible for the end to end production of the SAIRA radiation instruments as well as the documentation and visualisations for delivery of the MAIRE model to the UK Met Office.Additional Duties:Manager of research group's development lab.Deputy Fire Warden -

Designed and developed an Android application for data collection and transmission (SAIRA Network)Produced a full stack web server as a public interface for the dataDesign and assembly of high precision radiation detectors with USB to smartphone communications. This Includes microcontroller software utilising C/Arduino, analogue and digital PCB design, precision low voltage analogue circuit design. Full system testing and integration. Data analysis of radiation results to accurately calibrate the detectors to standard industry recommended precision. Public communication and outreach to promote the citizen science program, and working with public volunteer testers.
