-Respond to fire alarms with fire company; advancing hose lines into burning buildings while wearing self-contained breathing apparatus, carry lights, tools and equipment in order to extinguish fires and search for and rescue victims. Raises and climbs ladders; ventilates burning buildings to release smoke and gases; performs salvage and overhaul; reduces water damage and secures dangerous scenes.-Respond to fire alarms with fire company, rescuing victims from natural disasters, collapse, entrapment, and waterways, utilizing mechanical and hand tools; cuts or pries open vehicles to gain access to trapped victims; carries or transports unconscious or conscious victims down ladders and stairs; assists in patient care.-Perform maintenance on fire and rescue apparatus and equipment, cleans and maintains stations, grounds and equipment.-Participate in public education demonstrations, tours, and company/department drills; attends instruction sessions on topics related to fire, EMS, hazardous materials, public education, and inspections.-Prepare written reports by accessing and entering information on a computer system.-Review fire science literature, standard operating procedures, and related rules and regulations.
