• Technical and operational manager of Airbus’ generic composite technology developments in materials and processes, stress, design, architecture and integration, and manufacturing. • Accountable for a €xM budget and a team of 4 reports (~30 engineers reporting).• Led the team through three of the first Airbus Technology Readiness Level reviews for ‘generic technology’ and secured programme funding in the UK, France and Spain.• Represented the Airbus R&T programme in the ‘New Short Range’ (A30X) CFRP Materials Supplier Pre-Plateau and led the transfer of the results to the 2nd Gen. CFRP Fuselage programme (spanning materials, manufacturing and stress my approach is still used).

• Working transnationally I defined the Airbus composite materials and processes strategy.• Materials and Process integrator for all composite fuselage and wing structure research programmes (including ALCAS, Integrated Wing & Next Generation Composite Wing).

• Led a diverse team of ~ 10 people covering all aspects of composite materials and adhesive technology development with responsibility for a budget of ~€xM p.a.• Built, applied, won, implemented and delivered a ~ £1M Technology Strategy Board supported project for the ‘Out-of-Autoclave Simulation of Induced Stresses’ (OASIS) collaborative project with Advanced Composite Group, QinetiQ and University of Manchester.

• An Inspire South West project to help aerospace Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) anticipate future developments, promote innovation and make greater use of knowledge for competitive advantage. Funding was from the South West of England RDA and the EU FP5.• Built a strategic partnership with the Aerospace Innovation and Growth Team (AeIGT), the Society of British Aerospace Companies and the West of England Aerospace Forum. • I played a pivotal role in establishing the ASITP in the regional and national aerospace community. Cited by the AeIGT as an example of best practice in SME engagement.
