Scotford Upgrader Expansion Project

Member of the Shell Scotford Technical, Integrity and Quality (TIQ) Team. As an Instrument Systems Inspector in The Atmospheric and Vacuum Unit and The Sulphur Recovery Unit at The Upgrader Expansion Project. My responsibilities included: Instrument and Control System inspections as per technical standards and specification details.Review and sign Instrument Test Reports. Initial and final system and instrument inspections. Ensuring all installations comply with HFE access envelopes, HSE standards, and instruments are located in locations where they can be maintained and operated. Ensure Foundation Field Bus and Safety Integrated System installations are to Shell design and specifications. Troubleshooting and or addressing HSE issues, system deficiencies, request for information documents, non-compliance reports and field change notifications with Area Work Contractors and Construction Management Team members. Re-inspection of generated punch list items from system walk downs to ensure completion for System Notice of Readiness. Final Signing Authority for System Discipline Acceptance Certificates and punch list item acceptance. Work with Commission Start Up Team to ensure flawless and quality system turnover.

Responsibilities included: Scheduled preventative maintenance of all instruments, valves and analyzers. Interface closely with Operations to coordinate instrument repairs and calibrations. Perform repairs, calibration, and maintenance on plant instrumentation equipment in a safe, timely, and cost effective manner. Report to the Maintenance Supervisor and oversee the daily instrumentation maintenance activities at the plant including processing units and associated equipment, tank storage facilities, well pads, brackish wells, truck unloading/loading facilities. Able to quickly learn SAGD processes and operations including a strong understanding of electrical and instrumentation, including PLC control systems. Perform quarterly testing of fire and gas analytical systems safely and effectively in a live operating situation. Interface with Operations and Programmer to test safeguarding set points and trips in a live operating condition without upsetting plant process and control. On call 24/7 in emergency maintenance or plant upset conditions for troubleshooting and repair. Strong computer skills with knowledge of MS Word/Excel, e-mail and maintenance scheduling and tracking systems such as SAP and JDE. Work in unison with other craft members, safety team and procurement to coordinate and perform scheduled outages and major repairs or shutdowns. Commission new well pads, systems and installations coming online. Strong understanding of water treatment analyzers, maintenance and calibrations

Waterton Optimization Project

General Construction for Instrumentation and Control Group Installation and function check/QAQC new valves, transmitters, analyzers. Demolition and recovery of existing controls. .

Suncor Commerce City Refinery (2 months) Valve Survey, plant maintenance and pre-turnaround support services. Complete overhaul of plant air compression systems. Calibration of analyzers, install and commission Rosemount transmitters. Re-range and calibrate Rosemount transmitters using hart 275 & 375 communicators. BP Toledo Refinery Ohio. (1 month) Flow Scan valve diagnostics and troubleshooting. Fisher Controls Current to pneumatic transducer and positioner calibrations using flow scan hardware and software systems.Chicago Illinois Emerson Valves (1.5 months) Emerson Instrument and valve services. Data acquisition, teardown and overhauls on valves for BP Toledo turnaround.

Jackfish Phase 1 Sagd

General Instrumentation & Plant Construction Extensive use of Isometric Drawings and Piping and Instrument Drawings. Installation and function testing of ABB pressure, level and temperature transmitters. Installations of glycol heat trace and chemical injection lines. Installation of instrument air piping, tubing and supports. Calibration Checks of analog pressure and temperature gauges. QA/QC Masoneilan and Fisher control valve installations. Installation of differential pressure cells, capillaries and walk downs for system deficiencies.

Manufacturing Compression Systems: Manufacturing of reciprocating natural gas compression systems using Caterpillar or Waukesha engines and Ariel or Gemini GE Oil and Gas high specification Nuovo Pignone Compressor lines. Installation, function testing & tubing of all instrumentation and related components. Pressure testing and start ups of compression systems. Installation of raceway, supports, Spartech instrument panels and sensing lines.
