They pride themselves on being the world’s most effective brand design consultancy having won more DBA Design Effectiveness Awards than anyone else in the competition's history.During my five years at Elmwood I was heavily involved in insight, strategy and design for a diverse range of clients spanning retail, government, sport, media and FMCG. As a Senior Designer I was expected to approach all my jobs with processes that would deliver effective and beautiful design.I loved Elmwood's approach to generating big ideas for our clients and it was always far from brand fluff! Every job had a unique down to earth story to tell based on real insight. And doing this right always lead to memorable and effective design. I worked on a diverse range of clients including ANZ, Places Victoria, Perform Group, UniSuper, Tradelink, Melbourne Fashion Festival and Captian's Choice.

I left Cornwell to take some time out and to look after my 1 year old son Otto. I figured I may never get that chance again and made the most of it. But being "just a dad" proved harder than I thought... I couldn't help myself and spent most of the year fitting in freelance jobs at nights and on the weekends. I Established a relationship with Red Stitch Theatre helping them rebrand and roll out the new look as well as helping out various studios across melbourne.

I made the move to Australia in 2006 and after freelancing at various studios and advertising fims across Melbourne including FCB, McCann Erickson, Twenty20 Communications and Exit Films I took up a position at Cornwell Design where I worked closley with Quentin Brown (Canyon Design) and Steve Cornwell on numerous projects mainly in the corporate and property space. At Cornwell I had the chance to work with a hugely tallented group of designers and it really helped push my design skills, attention to detail and print knowledge. While I was there I worked on clients including Woods Baggot, SJB, Plus Arcitecture, Piccolo, Baracon and Sustainabilty Victoria.

Wellington & Wairarapa, New Zealand

This bunch of highly awarded ex-Saatchi’s employees had gone out on their own and I was stoked to be invited me to join them.I had the chance to work on some great large scale retouching jobs for the likes of the All Blacks, Ice Breaker, Caltex and Green Peace and also worked on more pure design work for New Zealand Post, Census New Zealand and Telstra. It was the perfect place to learn, and I still think the guys that worked there are some of the very best art directors and image creators in the business. Working at Cake gave me a love of big ideas and beautifully crafted design.

Wellington

After graduating with honours in Wellington, NZ, I scored a job at Saatchi & Saatchi as a typographer / graphic designer assisting renowned New Zealand typographer Len Cheeseman. After a brief but exciting time cutting my teeth in the world of advertising. I left Saatchis to work at a small start-up advertising / design firm called Cake.
