I am a Senior Lecturer and Programme Convenor for Attachment Studies, a unique and innovative programme within the Department of Psychology, at the University of Roehampton. I am chartered psychologist, social worker and Fellow of the Higher Education Authority.I am a founding director of Cambridge Centre for Attachment, and am involved in carrying out expert assessments of parenting, attachment, and risk for the Family Courts, as well as training and consultancy in the area of adult and child attachment. My work specialises in the integration of evidence based and research validated methods of assessing attachment and family functioning with assessment and intervention in this field. My training includes administering and classifying the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI), the CARE-Index, the Parent Development Interview (PDI-Reflective Functioning Scale), the CARE Index, the School Age Assessment of Attachment (SAA), and Attachment Story Stems, and I have been accredited as reliable in all these measures. Since 2002, I have frequently reported in Family Court Proceedings as an expert witness in matters relating to attachment, parenting, risk assessment, family relationships, contact in private and public law and other decisions relating to children. Please see www.attachment.servicesI have also developed and researched the Meaning of the Child Interview (www.meaningofthechild.org), an assessment tool for understanding parent-child relationships through semi-structured interviews. The Meaning of the Child Interview (MotC) has been used in family court assessments and family intervention since 2009, and is currently taught on the University of Roehampton's MsC course in Attachment studies, as well as through NAGALRO and to Local Authorities and Voluntary Organisations. Please contact or see www.meaningofthechild.org for more information.
