Lead Quality Engineer (Automated Testing)Thomson Reuters Mar 2006 - Sep 2010My duties whilst at Thomson Reuters were mainly to create automation scripts in various different programming languages (mainly VBScript for QTP but some Perl, SQL and Java). These scripts would then be run against the GUI and servers of financial trading software to test that it's functionality matched those of it's specifications. I used a variety of different tools including Quick Test Professional 9.2 & 10.0, Quality Centre and Eclipse along with in-house tools to run regular regression and sanity testing against a number of different products.As part of the role I was also responsible for updating my own test system, including SQL schema updates and queries, server upgrades within a unix system and ensuring that various other components were running correctly.I also had responsibility for deciding on the approach and strategy taken for the testing of various different parts of the systems being coded and mentoring other testers on the project.The role required taking a logical approach, with the ability to be flexible and adapt for new approaches. It also required me to be strong on communicating and leading especially as our team spanned a number of different international offices. -
