As a teaching assistant for GEEN 3400 - Invention and Innovation, I assisted student teams with all stages of the design process as well as equipment that they might need to use. The equipment included, but is not limited to, 3D printers, laser cutters, circuit board printers, and manufacturing shop equipment. I also assisted with softer skills associated with pitching, long-term planning, and team cohesion.

I worked with a team of five to strengthen IT Partner's marketing plan. IT Partner offers a business to business service, and so the team was responsible for making the website more intuitive and creating an active marketing strategy. The team contributed to the website by going through the visitor analytics and applying design thinking to the user interface. The team contributed to the active marketing strategy by making a promotional video that the company could send out to potential clients.

I worked with a team of three others to compete in a pitch competition held at the end of the program. The team participated in weekly instructional sessions designed to provide insight into the business side of entrepreneurship. During this time, we built a pitch around the concept of a journaling app which would provide users with tailored prompts depending on certain metrics including mood and frequency of journaling. The team secured a cash prize of $3,000 after tying for first place in the pitch competition.

As a research assistant for the University of Colorado Boulder Aerospace Department, I had three main roles. The first was to create an instructional slideshow for research subjects that would be participating in the study. The second was to learn to operate the tilt translation sled, which is essentially a large box on a set of rails with a chair inside that can rotate. The sled can simulate the acceleration felt when flying a plane. Finally, I designed and built hardware to be used inside of the tilt translation sled. The hardware, built primarily from aluminum 40x40 extrusions, allowed for a steering wheel to be easily mounted and removed from inside the tilt translation sled.

I ran an extensive series of computational models by modifying a Fortran script. I then recorded the data gathered from the trials and contributed to writing a research paper that documented and analyzed the results. The purpose of the experiment was to determine how fluid droplets behave in differently shaped channels. I also consumed multiple research papers on similar topics in order to become familiar with the subject matter. Much of the work that I did was independent and with minimal guidance from my advisor.

I started as an assistant swim coach, working with one other assistant coach and the head coach. For the first year I primarily coached the 8-and-under swimmers, of which there were 12. After the first year, I was promoted to head coach and was involved in the coaching of over 100 swimmers. I directly coached the 13-18 year old swimmers. This job involved writing sets and workouts, signing swimmers up for swim meets, and building personal connections with each swimmer. The most important and difficult part of the job was keeping parents happy.
