Ben is the UK’s leading charity fundraising recruiter and Founder CEO of next gen social media roobop. His experience encompasses growing a niche British fundraising business to a significant global player employing over 10,000 people and raising billions for major charities. Ben's unique insights to the psychologies of giving, coupled with his concerns about the financial model of the fundraising industry, inspired him to launch his own fundraising business in 2016, from which he turned his attention to other methodologies including digital giving. His work in this space was fast-tracked when Covid shattered impulsive real-world giving opportunities, leaving a catastrophic hole in funding, especially for community focused micro-charities. Ben spotted the opportunity in social media, an intuitive and busy gathering point for people which currently represents just 1% of digital giving - which in itself delivers 85% of all global giving, a sum of over $1trn. So throughout the pandemic he built a team of digital, charity and social expertise, and personally funded the development of a tech-ready next gen social media where likes mean micro-donations to charity. Initial market testing delivered extraordinary results including entirely organic growth, increased content sharing and enhanced charitable giving.On the way it became clear this could be kinder, safer and happier than the established social media behemoths have become.
