Chief People OfficerDoncasters Group Sep 2022 - Mar 2024Leeds, England, GbDoncasters is a leading international manufacturer of high-precision alloy components in the aerospace, industrial gas turbine and specialist automotive markets. I was appointed Chief People Officer in a period of rapid change. Doncasters is in a period of growth following a troubled background. Investment in people had been limited and a transformation of the function was required to take the business into its next phase. From appointment I reported directly to the CEO and was responsible for people strategy and all aspects of the HR Function. ROLE HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:- Established a new organisational structure, incorporating effective business partnering, simplified process management and centres of excellence.- Integrated the Uni-Pol Mexico, China and India businesses into the Doncasters group following their acquisition in July 2022.- Led an organisational effectiveness review in operating facilities resulting in restructuring and revised shift patterns to enable the business to deliver growth plans.- Launched talent development initiatives and First Time Leaders program to address urgent talent needs, populating a talent pipeline and developing meaningful succession planning.- Re-focused employee engagement action planning across the organisation, leading to the first annual improvements in employee engagement in three years. The HR function had engagement levels significantly above the Company average.- Developed a talent acquisition team, focused on improving quality of hire and reducing overall recruitment costs.- Developed HR technology roadmap to address significant global HRIS issues and to simplify payroll delivery by operating country. -
Chief Human Resources OfficerSignature Aviation Plc Oct 2019 - Dec 2021Orlando, Florida, UsI was promoted to CHRO and a member of the Senior Leadership Team in a period of rapid change. The group was focused solely upon the growth of Signature Aviation and divested of Ontic and Global Engine Services, reducing the global headcount to 5000. In June 2021 Signature Aviation was acquired by a private equity consortium and transferred to US private ownership. From appointment I reported directly to the CEO and was responsible for people strategy and all aspects of the HR Function at Signature Aviation including this transitional period. ROLE HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDED:- Established a new organizational structure, incorporating effective business partnering, simplified process management and global centres of excellence.- Led due diligence and the HR transition plan between UK public ownership and US private ownership, effective 1st June 2021.- Partnering with the COO, led the staff reduction efforts through the global Covid-19 crisis, including hours reduction and furlough management.- Led all people related aspects of the divestment of Global Engine Services from the group in July 2021 for $230m.- Supported engagement action planning across the organization, leading to annual improvements in employee engagement. For years 2 & 3 Signature was in the upper quartile of participant companies. The HR function had engagement levels defined as world class.- Developed a strategy and steering committee for Diversity, Inclusion and Wellbeing, reducing gender and diversity pay gap from 16% to 2.4% over three years.- Introduced new Leadership Development function to populate a talent pipeline for the future -
Vice President - Global Hr OperationsSignature Aviation Plc Sep 2018 - Sep 2019Orlando, Florida, UsI was promoted to be the global lead of all HR Centres of Excellence within the group, supporting 7,000 global employees at the time. Reporting to CHRO, and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, I had global accountability for Compensation & Benefits, HR Information Systems, Recruitment & Administration, Payroll and all Mergers, Acquisition and Divestment activity.ROLE HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDED:- Lead for all HR activity on all mergers, acquisitions and divestments globally including the $1.37 billion divestiture of Ontic and the acquisition of IAM in the Caribbean and TAG Aviation in Switzerland.-Developed and led HR Information Systems strategy and Roadmap. Successful implementation of all HRIS projects including Oracle HCM working with KPMG and Castlebridge Consulting.- Stabilized payroll function with a reputation for inaccuracy and revitalised Company-wide talent acquisition.- Working with the CEO, launched a new Compensation strategy to transform the corporate approach to managing compensation and address rising turnover concerns. -
Hr Director - EmeaSignature Aviation Plc Nov 2016 - Aug 2018Orlando, Florida, UsAt the time of the sales of ASIG I was promoted to HR Director for five BBA businesses units operating in EMEA including engine overhaul, parts, maintenance and flight support. I was a member of divisional leadership teams and reported to the BBA Chief HR Officer. I led a team of 20 including a Head of HR, Business Partners and HR Shared Services supporting a 1,200 employee base across numerous locations.ROLE HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDED:- EMEA HR Lead for the complex divestment of ASIG to John Menzies plc for $202 million. Responsible for all due diligence and the separation plan to successfully extract the Company from the flight support division within 12 months. - Led corporate restructuring programs following the sale of ASIG to significantly reduce central costs.- Designed and implemented a talent strategy for EMEA, including early careers schemes and improving recruitment & selection methods to strengthen the talent pipeline.- Enhanced the Company shared service offering to include all businesses, covering Payroll, HRIS, Analytics, Administration and Recruitment. - Led negotiations for closure of the H&S Middle East facility (UAE) in 2018.- Designed diversity and inclusion strategies and gender pay improvement plans for all EMEA businesses. - Introduced mental health and wellbeing training in EMEA alongside Mental Health First Aiders and an Employee Assistance Program. -
Hr Director, Flight Support EmeaSignature Aviation Plc Jan 2015 - Oct 2016Orlando, Florida, UsFlight Support, the largest division of the Company was made up of ASIG and Signature Aviation. ASIG Ground Handling operated in Manchester, Aberdeen and London Heathrow airports employing c2500 people. Signature Aviation operated in 7 countries employing approximately 600 people.In this role I was a member of the EMEA Leadership Team and reported to both the EMEA HR Director and the CHRO for Flight Support. I led HR strategy and execution and a team of 20 HR professionals supporting a large and mainly unionized employee base across the region. ASIG had experienced a ground handling strike in August 2014, the first at London Heathrow. Joining in January 2015 I developed and implemented an IR strategy that dramatically improved employee engagement and relations.ROLE HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDED:- Led EMEA HR due diligence for BBA’s $20bn acquisition of Landmark Aviation. Coordinated the HR integration strategy for all EMEA sites and met all synergy targets.- Designed and implemented a new HR structure, introducing HR business partnering and created a shared service centre improving data accuracy and reporting capabilities.- Reduced employment tribunal claims from 12 in 2014 to 0- Working with the Operations Director, designed a team working structure for Heathrow. The change ensured management accountability, employee alignment and significantly improved employee engagement. This was critical to ending a loss-making period for ASIG. -
