As the chief audit executive, I was responsible for the audit division's executive leadership at the District of Columbia Office of Inspector General. This including setting department policy, managing the comprehensive annual financial audit and report, and ensuring that District Government operations were effectively conducted.My work at the District of Columbia informed the D.C. Council, Mayor, and the public about important issues such as DC water quality, equality in the D.C. School District’s lottery system, and awarding of contracts to businesses that are not good stewards of public funds. Notable achievements during my tenure included convincing the District to provide funding for lead pipe removal for low-income residents, improving contract administration practices at the District Department of Transportation and the Department of General Services, and identifying anticompetitive tendencies in how the District awards road construction contracts.

In this role, I was responsible for managing the daily operations of the District of Columbia Inspector General Audit Division. Key accomplishments included resolving outstanding conditions noted by prior peer review and developing and implementing a new audit management system.
