Responsible for planning and leading the development and reporting of Canada’s forest and harvested wood product greenhouse gas estimates that contribute to various federal reports including the National Inventory Report and Emissions Projection Report. Collaborates with Canadian Forest Service research scientists, developers and provincial/territorial partners to facilitate scientific improvements and to advance forest carbon and harvested wood product modelling tools, including the Carbon Budget Model of the Canadian Forest Sector (CBM-CFS3). Manages human, financial and technical resources for an operational subset of the Carbon Accounting Team. Current focus is on delivering GHG estimates for the Two Billion Trees program.

Use of CBM-CFS3 and new, spatially explicit versions of the model (GCBM) to calculate carbon stocks and fluxes. Responsible for aggregate resources evaluation (primarily western Canada), including exploration, sampling, testing, modelling, reserves assessment, planning, permitting and market analysis. Performed specialized physical laboratory testing and assisted in the provision of specialist services for evaluation of distress (AAR, freeze-thaw damage, etc.) in concrete. Provided acid-rock-drainage and contaminants evaluation by thin section analyses and chemical assay. Evaluated rock material for use as armourstone/rip-rap and in tunnelling applications.Work carried out within metropolitan Vancouver as well as remote locations in coastal BC, northern BC and northern Alberta. Regularly conducted work to standards, guidelines and specifications from BC EMPR / OGC / MoTI, MTO, WorkSafe BC, Alberta OHS, CSA, ASTM and MEND, among others. Experienced and certified (LS-609/616) Petrographer.
