Economic Development DirectorCity Of Lawson, Missouri Sep 2016 - Jul 2017•Wrote grant for Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) funds for city of Lawson. This $264,258 project will create a sidewalk on the North Side of the street from Pennsylvania Avenue to Sheppard Lane. This is phase one of future development to create a walkable community.•Constructed commercial and residential surveys to get community feedback for comprehensive plan. Collected 800 residential and 30 commercial surveys from the citizens of Lawson. Results suggested that 60% of those surveyed have the top priority as a grocery store and the second priority is to clean up the city.•Updated comprehensive plan providing a five year and 25-year plan for future growth and redevelopment for the city of Lawson. The comprehensive plan showed that people want a walkable and livable community, one that enhances connectivity and increases assessed value of properties in the city of Lawson. •Rewrote commercial guidelines to provide structure for future and redevelopment of Lawson businesses. The new guidelines are posted on the internet for easy access to citizens. Made guidelines contain a color scheme and guidance for future development if new commercial businesses needed a color scheme guide. •Chaired EDC meetings. Helped provide insight for the EDC to look at tax abatements and community improvement districts for addressing new commercial development. Currently, in talks with Hy-Vee and Harps for new grocery store along 69 corridor and restructures of uniform zoning for the city of Lawson. In addition, made recommendations to waive permit fees for new construction of single family homes. •Chaired Planning and Zoning Meetings. Provided incite for planning commission in creating more uniform zoning. Lawson had only done piecemeal development before the economic development director position was created in 2016.
