• Served as liaison for Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and City Council in issues pertaining to site approvals, rezoning, variances, and annexations. By providing specifics about the effects on potential impacts to traffic and safety, I was able to get council to approve ten commercial, and residential developments ranging in values of $25 to $100 million. • Analyzed zoning and sign permits for new and relocating businesses, ranging about 5 to 10 per week.• Utilizing ARCGIS, updated maps for existing and future land use, sidewalks, and points of interest for the city of the city of Simpsonville. Currently, we are working on a trails project to connect to the Swamp Rabbit Trail. • Analyzed site plans to make sure they meet the city’s zoning regulations with a one week turn around back to engineers.

•Wrote grant for Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) funds for city of Lawson. This $264,258 project will create a sidewalk on the North Side of the street from Pennsylvania Avenue to Sheppard Lane. This is phase one of future development to create a walkable community.•Constructed commercial and residential surveys to get community feedback for comprehensive plan. Collected 800 residential and 30 commercial surveys from the citizens of Lawson. Results suggested that 60% of those surveyed have the top priority as a grocery store and the second priority is to clean up the city.•Updated comprehensive plan providing a five year and 25-year plan for future growth and redevelopment for the city of Lawson. The comprehensive plan showed that people want a walkable and livable community, one that enhances connectivity and increases assessed value of properties in the city of Lawson. •Rewrote commercial guidelines to provide structure for future and redevelopment of Lawson businesses. The new guidelines are posted on the internet for easy access to citizens. Made guidelines contain a color scheme and guidance for future development if new commercial businesses needed a color scheme guide. •Chaired EDC meetings. Helped provide insight for the EDC to look at tax abatements and community improvement districts for addressing new commercial development. Currently, in talks with Hy-Vee and Harps for new grocery store along 69 corridor and restructures of uniform zoning for the city of Lawson. In addition, made recommendations to waive permit fees for new construction of single family homes. •Chaired Planning and Zoning Meetings. Provided incite for planning commission in creating more uniform zoning. Lawson had only done piecemeal development before the economic development director position was created in 2016.

•Developed and oversaw the strategic planning for the Comal Homeless Coalition, consisting of 50 nonprofit organizations in the city of New Braunfels and Comal County •Created training manual for the annual homeless census which helped reduce duplication of homeless count and streamlined funds which reduced the time service providers had to wait to receive funds by 3 days, or 23%. •Identified funding resources for the transitional housing project ranging from Low Income Housing Tax Credits, HOME funds, and continuum of care funds.

Attended semester meetings with faculty and staff of University of Kansas School of ArchitectureGenerated ideas to help growth student involvement in the Urban Planning program within the school of architecture.

• Performed market analysis of incubators for the Kansas City area. Incubators are facilities where other young entrepreneurs rent out equipment, facilities and share space to help keep their costs low. • Contacted various economic development agencies across the nation, identifying strengths and weakness associated with incubators.• Created 2010 Census Tract Maps illustrating percentage breakout of Asian, Hispanic, African American, and White for the historic 18th and Vine district.

• Assisted with the repair and clean up homes on 38th and Chestnut. • Organized and implemented annual “Unity in the Community”, an event providing community outreach to the urban core.

• Coordinated meetings with community organizers, politicians, and business individuals where we talked about fundraising ideas for the program.• Created distribution list of community, political and business contacts.

• Presented semester long plan analyzing the Rock Island Corridor and identifying how to effectively use land for the greater Kansas City area. • The plan focused activity nodes for commuter rail and urban farming. This plan helped address the concept of the sustainability prism of equity, economics, ecology, and livability. • Activity nodes were targeted in high dense areas for commuter rail and agricultural areas for urban farming

Tracked over 100 markets for Sonic Drive In. Analyzed effectiveness of advertising to meet client demands for any lost market share. Effectively targeted advertising efforts saving $10,000 for years 2007 – 2010 for 10 markets. Negotiated cost of advertising sales representatives. Created PowerPoint presentations demonstrating which markets performed best and consumer ratings they achieved quarter-by-quarter.
