Sevp Of Energy And Commodities

Wayne, Pa, Us

Promoted to lead the $130M in revenue, $44M in EBITDA and 500 person Commodities and Energy segment of SunGard. Expanded responsibilities include management of global portfolio of high growth and low growth businesses historically managed in silos. These business units include the primary brands of SunGard Energy, Kiodex, Softworx and Fame, in addition to a number of acquired companies over the past 20 years. Through my tenure the business has steadily upgraded SunGard’s competitive position in energy and commodities through an aggressive program of integration, divestiture, acquisition, and innovation. This program integrated assets under a common strategy, a proven operational framework, and required bringing new talent into the organization. While divesting of sub-scale, non-core assets I also drove the acquisition of synergistic companies including ICE Risk, from the Intercontinental Exchange. In parallel I developed an innovation program that has resulted in multiple new product launches to capitalize primarily on market structure and regulatory reform changes including Kiodex Real Time & Kiodex Control (real time commodities risk management), Aligne (Sungard's energy physical asset management, trading and risk management services platform), and several new data assets within the Fame and Kiodex businesses. This program has grown revenue by over $15M through innovation, execution and acquisition. This success culminated in SunGard being named the Energy Risk Software House of the Year for 2010.

Aug 2009 - Jul 2011

President Of Kiodex

Wayne, Pa, Us

Led the $27M in revenue, $12.5M EBITDA, 80 person Kiodex business that delivers to commodities traders the first true global, ASP risk management platform for commodity trading firms. Expanded responsibilities included development of an innovation program to reinvent the business as the commodities industry rapidly shifted from primarily OTC to the world of exchange traded and cleared products driven by structural market change and regulatory reform. This program coupled with a proven operational framework and solution selling methodology has yielded over 200 new customers. I successfully executed on a strategy to expand the business into global, established markets such as Australia, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Middle East and Europe. At the same time the business successfully expanded into emerging markets such as India, China and Brazil. Flawless execution established a platform that grew the business by over 90% in revenue and 300% in EBITDA during my tenure as President and COO. This business continues to be one of the fastest growing businesses in all of SunGard. I also appeared regularly as a commodity risk management industry expert in round table discussions, industry publications and as key-note speaker at industry conferences.

This product launch led to the acquisition of new, significant relationships being established with entities such as Verizon, EMC, SunGard, Credit Suisse, Accenture, Sapient and Morgan Lewis to name a few. This success was culminated by securing M&A advisory services for SunGard through their leveraged buyout in 2005.
